Food fads come and go but every once in a while a new trend in the world of clean eating crops up that actually has some merit to it. The latest “it” food across health & foodie influencers on social media is a simple green juice….celery juice to be specific. Sure, green juice has been popular among clean eaters for some time now, but only recently has celery juice (just made with celery…no other veggies or fruits!) become the go-to amongst juice lovers.
I like to have some scientific evidence of true nutritional benefits before I jump on the latest health food bandwagon, so I made sure to do my research before spending my juice budget on celery juice.
Today, I am sharing what I found with you and answering the question: can drinking this simple green juice really give your body a healthy boost?
Here are 7 reasons you SHOULD be including celery juice in your daily eats…
Celery juice is a great source of vitamins and minerals | Contains vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, electrolytes, water and smaller amounts of other vitamins and minerals.
Juiced veggies are easier to digest | You’ll absorb the nutrients faster.
Filling for little calories | Unlike other green juices, celery juice is very low-cal and thus you can drink a lot of it to fill yourself up between meals.
Hydrating | Celery has natural electrolytes, eating or drinking it can help keep you hydrated.
Anti-INFLAMMATORY | celery juice contains antioxidant compounds called flavones. It’s been shown that flavones can stop specific reactions in your body that lead to chronic inflammation. Less inflammation = less risk of chronic disease LONG TERM.
Better Than Eating Celery | Eating celery stalks is not the same as drinking celery juice. When celery is juiced, the pulp is removed making healing benefits become much more concentrated and powerful. You’re also able to consume far more celery as juice than you would by eating it.
Strengthens Gut Bile | celery juice increases and strengthens your bile. Strong bile is necessary for breaking down fats and to eliminate waste from your body.
As if all these health benefits aren’t reason enough to try celery juice, I happen to love the taste too! 😊 Celery juice is incredibly refreshing and with warm weather in our future, you can bet I’ll be drinking gallons of celery juice all spring & summer.
